Arman – Villa Kérylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France

We are honoured and happy to participate in a Arman exhibition at Villa Kérylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France from May 19 to September 22, 2024

From May 19 to September 22, 2024, on the initiative of the Centre des monuments nationaux, Villa Kérylos will host an exhibition dedicated to Arman’s work.Among the permanent collections, graphic works, bronzes and resins by one of the greatest representatives of the Ecole de Nice will be presented from a new angle. Under the aegis of Cécile Debray, President of the Musée Picasso-Paris and curator of the exhibition, the sculptor’s work will thus be confronted with the spirit of the place, imbued with references to Antiquity but also a place of life and witness to history. The numerous references to Antiquity, revisited by the artist as well as by the designers of the Villa Kérylos, will also underline the great modernity of the monument.

Sixty pieces on loan from the MAMAC, the Arman Marital Trust, Galleri GKM Siwert Bergström, the Guy Pieters Gallery and the collector Helen Modini. Built between 1902 and 1908 by the architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, Villa Kérylos fulfils the desire of Théodore Reinach, a scholar, politician and writer who was passionate about Ancient Greece. This holiday spot like no other stands out for its refined combination of the comfort of sumptuous Belle Époque homes and inspiration from Antiquity, enriched with the latest discoveries. Far from being an imitation of Antiquity, Villa Kérylos is a comprehensive creation in which each detail of the monument, its surroundings and furniture pay tribute to the Ancients Greeks and, more broadly, the Mediterranean world.
