𝐒𝐢𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐭𝐫ö𝐦 *𝟐𝟖 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟗𝟑𝟕 †𝟐𝟏 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎 It is with great sadness we have to announce that Siwert Bergström, the founder of Galleri GKM, our beloved father, grandfather and father-in-law passed away peacefully on Saturday 21 November at the age of 83. His love of art and his devotion to the gallery that was his life’s work endured to the end. His spirit remains in our work and he will be deeply missed. The Bergström Family

We had the opportunity to collaborate with Arman since 1985 which resulted in many inspiring meetings, great exhibitions and happenings, eg. at FIAC in Paris, at the art museum in Lund (Lunds Konsthall) and at the Concert hall in Malmö. We also had the pleasure to make several books, editions of graphics and multiples together. Your work means a lot to the history of our gallery. Thank you for all your fantastic art that gives joy and fascinate people every day all over the world.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 "𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐨’𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲” by #Erró Mao’s quote “The east wind will prevail over the west wind” could serve as a leitmotif for these paintings, where Mao and his red troops pose proudly like conquerors in front of different tourist attractions in the West. Since Mao travelled abroad only twice during his reign – to Moscow – Erró’s paintings can be seen as ironic interpretations of Mao’s influence in the western world in the late 1960s. However, one is also struck by their unconscious anticipation of the new world order we are experiencing today.
