Jeff Koons. The American pop artist was born in York, Pennsylvania in 1955. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1976. Koons lives and works in New York City.
Jeff Koons is known for working with popular culture subjects and for his reproductions of banal objects. His works have sold for important amounts, including one world record auction price for a work by a living artist.
Each limited edition of the Balloon Dog (Blue) required 60 people and a full month to produce. The metallic and reflective characteristics of the porcelain were only achievable by combining traditional porcelain decoration techniques with new technologies. Produced by the well-renowned manufacture Bernardaud, Limoges, France.
